The gemstone for February is the Amethyst which is the purple variety of Quartz. It’s deep, rich color is unparalleled even in more expensive gemstones. The Greek word “amethystos” can be translated as not drunken, and therefore a strong antidote against hangovers!
Leonardo Da Vinci wrote that amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and increase intelligence. Tibetan Buddhists believe the crystal to be sacred to the Buddha.
