April Color of the Month

Adventurous, energetic, pioneering and courageous. Yep, it’s April and those qualities describe not only the Color of the Month but just about everything else about April that I can think of!
It seems no matter how bleak the winter was, Spring is coming and with it the promise of new beginnings and fresh starts.
Our Color this Month is Red, and probably any variation you might dream of can inspire you with enthusiasm. Want to brighten up your table, try a bouquet of cheerful and playful Gerbera Daisies. This lovely daisy is native to South Africa, but has become a popular flower around the world. It is prized for it’s bold colors and striking appearance. The reds and combination of red hues can’t help but brighten your day.
April is also the first Zodiac sign, Aries the Ram. The Element of Aries is fire, so think action, enthusiasm, and a burning desire to be “in the game.” Aries born are rarely patient, always confident, passionate and impulsive. Stubborn, yes, but underneath, very sensitive. Some well known Aries people: Harry Houdini, Vincent Van Gogh, Debbie Reynolds, (Ms. Reynolds is the reason I’m Debbie not Deborah) and Charlie Chaplin, just to name a few.
What gemstone other than Diamond could be a more appropriate birthstone for Aries?
Diamonds are the emblem of fearlessness and invincibility, undoubtedly because of its unbeatable hardness and fiery sparkle.
Known to stimulate appetite and conversation, red is most commonly used in dining rooms, but that’s not the only place you can “love” red.
I know, reds are “tricky,” but almost every hue and tone of this color can be a wonderful addition to any room in your home in varying degrees.
Judicious use of reds and shades of yellow can give an upbeat, optimistic feel. Or tones of red plus brown can be sophisticated and sexy.
If the words painting with red strikes terror into your heart, change the way you think about color. Using words like Paprika, cayenne, or even red velvet cake evokes a picture in your mind of different tones of red. Now red seems easier to imagine, doesn’t it?
