Our gemstone for May is the Emerald. Possibly the most beautiful, most intense and radiant green found in any gemstone. Emeralds have been revered and held in high esteem by almost all peoples throughout history. From mines worked by the ancient Egyptians near the Red Sea between 3000 and 1500BC to the current mines in Columbia, emeralds continue to capture the adoration of gemstone lovers worldwide.

Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac and the astrological sign for those born between April 20th and May 20th. Steady and stable, Taureans are the salt of the earth, and their friends know they can depend on their honesty. A Taurus is an excellent friend and fiercely loyal. The often discussed trait of stubbornness can also be described as intense persistence. The quote of “….never, never, never, give up….” from Winston Churchill comes to mind.
The flower for May is the Lily of the Valley. In the language of flowers, lily of the valley denotes humility, chastity, sweetness and purity. It’s a beautiful plant and wonderfully fragrant. Remember the cologne “Muguet Des Bois”, a lily of the valley perfume from the 60s and 70s? Ah, now that brings back memories…..
Green is the Feng Shui color of fresh energies. Green is very nourishing to your health. It calms the nerves and balances the whole body by bringing healing energies. It is very important to have at least several different shades of green to maximize the Feng Shui energy effects. Spring is a season full of celebrations, all of them reflecting the beauty of nature renewal and a new beginning. A great way to bring green into your surroundings is with actual plants that have lush green foliage. Doing this will promote vitality, growth and healing. It is also and expression of abundance, thus an ancient Feng Shui cure for wealth and prosperity.
A beautiful way to add multiple greens to any wall is to create a decorative finish using similar hues with either paint or plaster.
So, Go Ahead, revisit the color green with fresh eyes, I’m sure you’ll find several that make you smile and relax.
